Of course, Bike Pottstown/Bike Schuylkill wants these bikes to be used to replace your car.

Bike Pottstown/Bike Schuylkill promotes safe riding practice, and provides helmets for all cyclists. Cyclists are at risk to injury, and we strongly encourage you to wear a helmet while you use our bikes. However, pursuant to Pennsylvania law, bicyclists over the age of 12 are not required to wear a helmet.

No, we are not giving bikes to residents, we are giving bikes to the community, for the community to use. If you kept the bike, the rest of the community would not be able to use the program.

We require all cyclists using the program to be 16 years of age or older. We are not able to insure younger riders.

The cyclist is responsible for the bike while it is in use. We understand that some damage may occur, and will not hold the cyclist responsible for minor damage resulting from responsible use. If the bike is returned inoperable, you will be asked to pay for the bike.

Cyclists are responsible for returning the bike in the condition it was issued. If the bike is stolen while you have it, you will be asked to pay for the bike.

We do not charge anything to use the bike, and we do not collect a security deposit. Bike Pottstown/Bike Schuylkill works on the honor system. If you do not return the bike, we will turn your ID over to the local police department.

The bikes are free to use during the hours of operation. We only ask that you leave a valid Driver’s License or state Photo ID with us while you have the bike.
